SS Descriptors was founded by Steve Salotto who began his career in the late 1990s. Armed with a combo TV/VCR, a remote control, and MS Word, Steve started the journey of establishing himself as an expert in the fields of Script Services and Audio Description. During the decade he spent working independently, Steve had a profound influence on the industry, helping to design and implement templates that are still used today by just about every major player in Localization. Steve was hired by Deluxe in 2007 to launch their Script Services department, which he ran for 7 years. In 2012, Steve entered the world of Audio Description when he trained with the renowned Dr. Joel Snyder in conjunction with the American Council of the Blind’s Audio Description Project. Steve built the Audio Description department at Deluxe and oversaw the description creation for some of the biggest titles of the time, including The Avengers and The Hunger Games. In 2013, Steve moved to Point.360 to establish their Localization and Audio Description departments which he oversaw for 8 years. With his skilled team there, Steve was a driving force in the launch of Audio Description for both Hulu and HBO Max, overseeing hundreds of hours of creation on some of their biggest titles. With SS Descriptors, Steve has returned to his roots of independent script creation working to ensure his clients’ titles are artfully localized, technically perfect, and fully accessible to all.
